If you haven’t heard of Costa Mesa, California, don’t feel like you’re in the dark. Surrounded by better- known cities such as Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa might be best known for its luxury shopping mall, South Coast Plaza, or as the headquarters of major sporting goods and clothing companies such as Hurley International, Volcom, RVCA and Paul Frank Industries. With so many businesses in the city, locating your office space in Costa Mesa means you’re in good company. The city has 110,000 residents with a median age of 33 and boasts a total labor force of over 64,000.
A former farming community, like most of Orange County, Costa Mesa has a healthy local economy that generates tax revenues of about $100 million annually. Besides South Coast Plaza, the city is also home to The Lab and The Camp, two counterculture retail developments, and the SoCo Collection, an innovative, environmentally-friendly shopping center focused on home furnishings and decor.
To really have your business be a part of the community, you’ll want to get involved in some of the many events Costa Mesa offers local residents. As a business owner, you can support the event by being a sponsor, volunteering or donating products or services. You can also simply attend to network or be part of the planning committee. You never know what connections you can make when you get involved.
